An intrinsic Russian cruiserweight collision between reigning European champion Rakhim Chakhkiev (21-1, 16 KOs) and 38-year old fight veteran Valery Brudov (42-5, 28 KOs) has been confirmed by Chakhkiev’s coach and manager Airat Mukhamadiev.
“We have finished our camp in Tenerife, Canary Islands, and now we are back to Moscow for more sparring sessions. Rakhim is back on April 4 in Moscow against Brudov”, revealed Mukhamadiev to TASS.
Valery Brudov was the interim WBA cruiserweight champion in 2006-2007 but he is mostly known for his losses to Virgill Hill (2006), Firat Arslan (2007), Guillermo Jones (2010), Ola Afolabi (2012) and Tony Bellew (2014).
WBC #1, IBF #5, WBO #7 and WBA #10 Chakhkiev, 32, was 4-0, 3 KOs, in 2014, winning against second-tier opponents Juho Haapoja, Santander Silgado and Jackson Junior as well as against ex-WBC titlist Giaccobbe Fragomeni.
