EU super middleweight champ Mariano Hilario is currently in Nykoping (Sweden) to spar with IBF # 3 light heavyweight Erik Skoglund. Hilario, based on the Spanish Canary Islands trains for a defence on December 17 in Helsinki against Niklas Rasanen and as Nykoping has been hit by an early winter Mariano also gets a good chance to get used to the cold in Finland.
As for Skoglund, he takes on Timy Shala on December 9 with the vacant WBA International title at stake and is a safe bet to come out winning.
Newly crowned EBU featherweight champion Dennis Ceylan has former IBF and EBU super bantamweight ruler Kiko Martinez (35-7-1) as official challenger. Ceylan won the title last month win with a close points win over Ryan Walsh while Martinez drew with Eusebio Oseja in his last fight and was before that stopped by Leo Santa Cruz.
Ceylan will however first make a voluntary defence in March against an opponent to be announced.
The EBU have set November 14 as deadline for purse bids or agreement for Kubrat Pulev´s mandatory defence against big Pole Marius Wach. At the same time tickets for Pulev´s fight December 3 in Sofia (Bulgaria) against Samuel Peter are now on sale and it´s likely that Pulev will be forced to relinquish the EBU title.
