It could be several months before Grzegorz Proksa (26-1, 19 KOs) is capable of returning to the ring. On Saturday night in Sheffield, Proksa lost his perfect record, and his EBU middleweight title, when huge underdog Kerry Hope (17-3, 1 KO) was awarded a twelve round majority decision. Early in the fight, Proksa suffered a very bad cut above his left eye. The injury affected his vision for the entire contest.
Sources have indicated that both sides are interested in a rematch, and there was a rematch clause in the bout agreement. But Proksa's cut was reportedly so deep that he might be out of the ring for five to six months and there is no telling if Hope will still be the champion when the Polish contende returns to action.
