Irishman Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) is hoping to entice a top light-welterweight to Ireland this autumn(fall), as the Dungiven fighter looks to get back to winning ways following his controversial stoppage defeat against WBA champion Amir Khan at the MEN Arena in Manchester last month.
On “Dudey’s” hitlist are the likes of IBF champion Zab Judah and former Amir Khan opponent and interim champion to his crown, Marcos Maidana. One fighter McCloskey looks unlikely to fight is Breidis Prescott, the only man to stop Amir Khan in his pro career. The 31 year-old recently tweeted that he believes the Colombian has moved up to 147lbs and followed that tweet up by calling out the top 140lbers in the division.
“Khans having their usual money grabbing problems. I’ve been there before with them,” stated McCloskey.
“I'm ready to fight anyone of the elite 140lb's anywhere. Ican fill arenas in Ireland, U.K. or America and I’m ready to fight anywhere. @SUPERJUDAH (Zab Judah) @ChinoMaidana (Marcos Maidana), Tim Bradley or Devon Alexander.
“This is an official call out to any of the elite 140lb's we can make a fight much easier than some other greedy fighters. Lets do it.
“The M.E.N in Manchester was filled in April because of my fans, that will be the same if I fight in New York, Belfast or Dublin. Money grabbing and fighters-come-promoters are ruining boxing. I want to fight the best and am willing to do that whatever it takes,” added the former EBU champion.
