The world featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Orlando "Siri" Salido (39-11-2, 27KOs), is not concerned with any potential danger involved in facing Miguel Angel 'Mikey' Garcia (29-0, 25KOs). Salido was going to defend his belt against Garcia on November 10th in Las Vegas, but broke his index finger in an accident and was forced to withdraw.
"Emotionally [the accident] affected me a lot because it was a good fight with a great challenge with Mikey Garcia, who is unbeaten. It's what everyone wanted to see but now we have to wait and see what will happen. It's a blow but we have to recover," Salido said.
"My championship was not in danger. I know I have the formula to beat Garcia, who hasn't faced a single reputable fighter or anything like that. I think they have brought him along little by little and I think I would have been the toughest opponent [of his career]."
Salido will fully recover in a few weeks and hopes to face Garcia in January, but doesn't rule out the possibility of facing someone else if Garcia is not available.
