Unbeaten middleweight boxer Anthony Ogogo believes British boxing fans are the most passionate in the world.
The London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist outclassed and stopped Wayne Reed earlier this month to extend his unbeaten professional record to seven fights.
Ogogo, who is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, said the reaction he received from the fight was evidence of Britain’s love for the sport.
Boxing is also one of the sports involved in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, which staged its opening ceremony last night.
Ogogo blogged on Sportlobster.com: “Your messages of support and good will are hugely appreciated.
“It is safe to say we have the best fans in the world here in Britain.”
The 25-year-old is set for the undercard of the Shawn Porter versus Kell Brook fight in Carson City on August 16.
Ogogo has trained and boxed in the United States and said his first fight in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena was unforgettable.
He added: “Over the past three months, I have had my sixth and seventh professional fight respectively.
“Fighting in Las Vegas on the Floyd Mayweather undercard was unbelievable and an experience I will never forget.
“However, I am very patriotic and love fighting in Britain.”
The Lowestoft-born fighter now hopes to extend his winning streak, as he looks to beat his opponents to the punch in the middleweight division.
Ogogo said: “It was great to get the stoppage against Wayne Reed in Liverpool earlier this month.
“The city holds fond memories for me, as I won the Junior World Championships in 2005 and received a fantastic reception, which was brilliant.
“I am looking to kick on and progress. I want to be the very best and I will put in everything I possibly can to achieve this.”
