Hard-hitting Jorge "Destroyer" Melendez (27-3-1, 26 KO's), and prospect Felix 'Diamante' Verdejo (10-0, 7 KO's), will be in action on March 22 at the Roger L. Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The show will be presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions and Top Rank. Melendez's opponent will be announced in the coming days, but Verdejo will face Juan Santiago (14-11-1, 8 KO's).
And Top Rank, who like to strategically move their prospects, have Verdejo in play for April 19 to face Jeremy McLaurin (10-7-1 and 5 KO's) in litigation that will be part of a function to be held in Orlando, Florida. Verdejo is insistent on joining the June 7th undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York, where Argentina's Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez expose his WBC middleweight title against Miguel Cotto, who will look to become the first Puerto Rican to win four titles in four divisions.
