While all things at Matchroom Boxing are fully concentrated on their remaining shows left in 2015, and the likes of Martin Murray fighting in Germany for a world title, promoter Eddie Hearn and his team know where some of their early 2016 shows will take place.
Hearn revealed a few of the cities that some of his fighters will be boxing in during January, February and March.
“Today in the office has been all about mapping out next year really,” Hearn said.
“We’ll be in London at the end of January, in early February it’s likely that [Kell] Brook will return. He won’t fight again this year.”
Hearn went on to say the IBF welterweight champion’s next fight will “possibly” be in his home town of Sheffield but did confirm one fight that will be taking place the following month.
“In March we’ll be back in Birmingham and we’ll do [Sam] Eggington against [Frankie] Gavin.” Writers note: This fight would be for Egginton’s British and Commonwealth welterweight titles. The pair had been due to meet last month but the bout was pulled after Gavin sustained an injury.
He continued: “February 27 is obviously Quigg-Frampton. We’ll be looking to return to Liverpool at the end of March. It’s just now about really finalising venues. The shows in January and February are always the ones that create the most financial risk.
“We’ve got a lot of fighters on the December 12 show so they’re pretty much safe and sound till March/April. But it’s really looking about January, February and March and getting our house in order.”
