MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Things definitely heated up between middleweight contenders J'Leon Love and Gabriel Rosado yesterday at the "Grand Arrivals" for the Floyd Mayweather versus Robert Guerrero pay-per-view mega fight. Words were exchanged between both men and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe also joined in, getting in Rosado's face.
BoxingScene correspondent Chris Robinson and myself caught up with Love shortly after the altercation. He brushed off anything Rosado had to say but admitted that his opponent has a lot of heart and determination when he steps in the ring. He said that while also saying that being too brave can get you in trouble.
"He ain't really about that life man. At the end of the day he's a tough fighter. he has heart but heart isn't everything. Heart can get you killed," Love stated.
I mentioned to Love that the fighter of Puerto Rican descent told us that Love's actions were a sign of weakness. Love immediately shot that theory down.
"Like I'm worried or something. Like I said, we are coming to fight. I'm in shape and coming to fight. I asked them for this fight so why would I be scared?" Love told BoxingScene.com.
I bounced the question back to Love asking him if he felt that maybe it is Rosado himself who is trying to use the altercation as a way of motivating himself for the fight. Love said that was possible while pointing out that he has a perfect record while Rosado has multiple losses on his ledger.
"They know I can f***ing fight. They know that. They know it's a difficult task for them. He's tough but we fight tough fighters all the time and they fail. At the end of the day you've failed and I haven't so let's keep it real," Rosado concluded.
