Kovalev To Get in Hard Work at Robert Garcia's Gym

By Francisco Salazar

Unbeaten light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev will continue his training camp in Oxnard, Calif., manager Egis Klimas told BoxingScene.com over the weekend.

Kovalev will continue working with trainer John David Jackson, but will utilize the training facilities at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy.

Kovalev (27-0-1, 24 KOs) will face Nadjib Mohammedi on July 25 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. HBO will televise the bout, which headlines a Main Events card.

Kovalev is coming off an eighth round stoppage win over jean Pascal at the Bell Centre in Montreal on March 14. Also on the same card, Mohammedi stopped Lee Campbell in the sixth round.

This is not the first time a fighter managed by Klimas trains in Oxnard. Vasyl Lomachenko has used the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard to train for his last two fights.

Klimas resides in nearby Thousand Oaks.
