Brooklyn, New York - Both boxers are under the Premier Boxing Champions umbrella. Both fighters are advised by Al Haymon. It’s a fight that should be easy to make. But a showdown between welterweights Keith Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) and Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) has yet to be signed.
The frustration seems to be growing with Shawn Porter’ trainer and father, Ken Porter.
“Has anyone seen Keith Thurman because we can’t find him?,” Kenny Porter asked. “Has anyone got an interview with Keith Thurman? He don’t even want to talk to no one?”
Kenny knows Thurman well and has no idea why "One Time" has not agreed to the fight with his son.
“We chasing this man,” Porter told BoxingScene.com. “If it’s financial it’s no problem, we’ll give him whatever he wants. What we are hearing that the fight is going to happen. I don’t have a date or a time or a place. We want Keith Thurman and that’s it, there is no plan B.”
There is no backup plan as of now for the Porters, so their focus is on Thurman to at least the end of the year.
“We can’t make that decision to move on until we know what’s going on but we’ll know by the end of this year if we fight him or move on. We here because we want to let people know we want Keith Thurman. Please give us a call.”
