Moscow is all but set for the arrival of Roy Jones Jr., one of the greatest pound-per-pound stars in recent history. 42-year old Jones Jr. (54-7, 40 KOs) lands in “Domodedovo” international airport tonight on 7:15 AM LT (GMT+3) to take part in various promotional events for his next fight, which is scheduled to take place on May, 22, at “Dynamo” arena in Krylatskoe, Moscow.
Jones, who is obviously just a shell of his former self, will try once again to turn back the clock and to revive his stagnating career against maybe the most dangerous possible opponent in 31-year old cruiserweight banger Denis Lebedev (21-1, 16 KOs). WBO #1 Lebedev is coming off a highly controversial split loss to reigning WBO champion Marco Huck and considered by many to be a future nightmare for the once-great fighter. The collision between a rising star and a fading superstar will be labeled “The Battle of Two Empires” and will be a part of a nice-packed little card promoted by Vladimir Hryunov.
The American celebrity will take part in exclusive photo sessions, interviews and in an official press-conference to announce an upcoming fight alongside Lebedev and Hryunov. Jones Jr. will also take some time to address his fans and to show his skills in basketball.
