The plan was for welterweight Jesus Soto-Karass - coming off a loss to Devon Alexander in June - to return to the ring in November but according to his co-manager Sergio Diaz, because of his wife's pregnancy and the fighter having put on some excess poundage, the decision was made to push back his next outing until the beginning of the new year.
"We decided to wait," said Diaz, via text message on Tuesday morning."(Jesus) said he wasn't going to be physically nor mentally ready to fight in November."
Soto-Karass, a rugged Mexican brawler who was best known for years as the sparring partner for Antonio Margarito, had a late career resurgence with victories over Selcuk Aydin and Andre Berto in 2013 before dropping his last two bouts to Keith Thurman (who stopped him in nine rounds last December in San Antonio) and then Alexander.
At age 32, Soto-Karass has a career mark of 28-10-3 (18 KO's).
