Negotiations between super middleweight contenders James 'Chunky' DeGale and Andre Dirrell have reached a standstill, as the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has ordered a mandatory purse bid hearing to determine who will earn the right to promote the forthcoming vacant super middleweight title fight.
The hearing is scheduled for March 10, 12:00pm at IBF headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey.
The IBF revealed a in press that statement that they've "received written certification on February 26, 2015, from Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport on behalf of James DeGale indicating that they were no longer willing to negotiate and requested an immediate Purse Bid in compliance with rule 10.A. of the IBF Rules Governing Championship Contests.
"Therefore, the IBF is calling for Purse Bids to be held at the IBF office in Springfield, NJ on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 12 Noon. Bids must be submitted by 11:45 AM and will be promptly opened at 12 Noon."
The title was declared vacant after Carl Froch opted to move in a different direction rather than face countryman DeGale, a matchup he felt wasn't worthy of his time at this stage in his career.
