One of the most highly anticipated fights on the Showtime schedule is slated to take place on May 19th in Toronto, Canada when WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1) faces former two-division champion Badou Jack (22-1-2). The fight will be part of a split site doubleheader with WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. facing his mandatory challenger Joseph Diaz in Maryland in the other televised bout.
Stevenson-Jack was originally scheduled to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal where Stevenson resides but now will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Either way, Jack knows he is the road fighter.
"Canada is Canada to me. It doesn't matter if its Montreal or Toronto to me," Jack told BoxingScene.com.
Even though Stevenson is 40-years-old, Jack believes that he is still at the top of his game.
"I think he started late and he hasn't been showing his age lately. He hasn't been in any tough fights to show his age. He is dangerous early. He might be dangerous late too, you know never know. We are going to adjust to the situation," Jack explained.
Jack himself is another late bloomer in the sport and seems to be improving each time he steps in the ring. In his last appearance in the ring in August, he demolished Nathan Cleverly in 5 rounds on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor undercard.
The Mayweather Promotions' fighter has campaigned for this fight for over a year and can't wait for fight night to finally arrive.
"This is probably the biggest fight of my career. Every fight for me is the biggest fight for my career. I am getting better and better with each fight. Adonis is one of the best in the division and one of the best punchers in boxing. This is a big fight that I asked for," said Jack.
