Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport was not pleased with the medical attention that was given to Amir Khan in the immediate after of last Saturday's vicious knockout at the hands of WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Khan moved up by eight pounds, to a catch-weight of 155, to challenge Canelo for his WBC title.
Canelo closed the fight with a brutal one-punch knockout in the sixth round.
Hearn felt the medical attention to Khan (31-4, 19KOs), who was unconscious, should have been a lot better.
"That wasn't pretty to watch. What I also don't like, and this is where I think the British Boxing Board of Control do such a great job....where was the oxygen? Where was the medical attention to Amir Khan in the ring that night. People were standing over him, the ref was still counting and a security guard came in and was [fanning Khan] with a towel. That was a horrible knockout and regardless of anybody's feelings towards Amir Khan or me or Kell Brook - nobody likes to see that," Hearn told Sky Sports.
Hearn would still like to make a deal for a fight between IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook and Khan. He admits the fight will be 'very dangerous' for Khan - due to Brook's punching power.
In his honest opinion, Hearn feels Khan should consider his future and his health before stepping in the ring again.
"Yeah, I think he should consider his future in the sport. He's an excellent fighter, he's had a wonderful career but there are only so many knockouts that you can take in this sport. And each one that has happened throughout his career has become more devastating - but Saturday night was on another level," Hearn said.
