Eddie Hearn has predicted a big knockout win for Bury's Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23 early) when he meets Belfast's Carl Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs) at the Manchester Arena (formerly MEN) on February 27.
Their WBA/IBF super bantamweight world titles will be at stake in a widely anticipated unification.
The promoter has been told that his charge is looking better than ever in training and has nailed his colours to the mast by plumping for a stoppage victory.
“Joe Gallagher [Quigg's trainer] is telling me that this kid is hitting so hard and I share the confidence that this is going to be so brutal,” stated Hearn when talking to the Mirror.
“I think it is going to be a brutal fight and a brutal finish. I cannot see Scott Quigg losing this fight. I just can't see it. He is too determined, too big, too strong, devastating.”
Frampton’s fans will not agree with Hearn, but one thing that is for sure is the venue will be packed come the first bell so the Irish and British contingents will raise the roof in support of their fighter.
Hearn added: “I tell you this now: the atmosphere that night will be the best atmosphere you have seen in British boxing. Carl Froch versus Lucian Bute was special, as was Ricky Hatton against Kostya Tszyu but in Manchester you are going to have ten thousand English and ten thousand Irish fans. It is going to be an unbelievable night of boxing.”
