Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale (20-1, 14KOs) will get a solid return date shortly, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport. DeGale is waiting for a finalized date for his ordered fight with Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16KOs).
The two boxers will fight for the vacant IBF super middleweight title, which Carl Froch vacated earlier this year. The match went to a purse bid, which was won by Warriors Boxing on behalf of Al Haymon, who is Dirrell's manager.
Hearn says the fight is going to take place in May, in the United States.
"I should know in the next 24 hours what date James DeGale will fight Andre Dirrell for the IBF super middleweight world title vacated by Carl Froch. Contrary to rumors stateside, it will most likely be in mid to late May on the U.S. east coast," Hearn told Daily Mail.
