Russia cruiserweight contender Grigory Drozd (36-1, 25KOs) is the latest boxing who says he parted ways with well known promoter/manager Vladimir Hryunov. In the last two weeks, both Denis Lebedev and WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin announced their decisions to break away from Hryunov. Drozd says he plans to return on October 5th in Moscow, as part of the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Povetkin undercard.
"He told me 'Grigoriy, I am ready to make you a world champion.' I said, 'Okay, let's go.' I had three fights. In all of them I scored victories. Hryunov promised that I would get a title fight. It did not happen. Why it didn't happen Hryunov did not explained. Without a word he turned and walked away. He acted ugly and dishonorable. It's all over looking for profit. If a boxer is no longer of interest to him, Hryunov forgets about him. I feel very bad. Yes, he can arrange a good fight. But his human qualities do not command respect," the boxer said.
