Golovkin: The Next Goal is The Fight against Felix Sturm

A few days ago, the WBA's Championship Committee clarified the situation in the middleweight division and appointed Gennady Golovkin as their "regular" world champion, while making Felix Sturm the "super champion" at the weight.

Gennady wants to sincerely thank the president of the WBA, Mr. Gilberto Mendoza, and the WBA championship board for this honor. He also wants to thank all his fans and his sponsor, TAK Sports Group, for the perpetual support.

Gennady says that he will defend this important title with honor and will always face up to his official challengers. Now it is time for him to fight against the top of the world. The next goal is to find the answer to the question who is the true champion of the WBA in the middleweight division.

Golovkin's mananger, Oleg Hermann, says: “It is a very simple question: Can Felix Sturm hold his title with pride? We think, he knows that his title is only of its full value if he fights against Gennady, the WBA's world champion. There is nothing that could prevent the bout between Gennady and Felix, since they both are promoting themselves. It is now time to find out if the WBA's super champ is really undefeatable, like he says he is."
