George Groves (19-2, 15 KOs) will aim to put his second loss to Carl Froch behind him when he returns to action on Sep 20 at Wembley Arena, London in a show promoted by German based powerhouse, Sauerland.
Groves, 26, will face European super middleweight champion Christopher Rebrasse (22-2-3, 6 KOs) for the Frenchman’s title and in what will be a final eliminator for the WBC World title, currently held by Sakio Bika. The matchup will be formally announced at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
Rebrasse currently holds the number three spot with the WBC whilst Groves, at time of writing, does not hold a ranking after a pair of unsuccessful attempts to wrestle the WBA and IBF 168 lb. trinkets from his bitter rival, Froch last November and in front of 80,000 people at the end of May this year.
Bika, who has been champion since beating Marco Antonio Periban with a 12-round majority decision win in June 2013 will be back in the ring on Aug 16 in a rematch with Anthony Dirrell after the pair fought out a draw last December.
