Frankie Gavin and Sam Eggington will meet for a title when the pair square-off next month.
The Midlands duo, who are both former British welterweight champions, have the added carrot of the vacant WBC International crown on October 22.
Their clash, which will happen at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham and will be broadcast exclusively live on Sky Sports, has been long awaited and was all set for action last year before Gavin was forced out of the fight with a foot injury.
Now, however, it’s all systems go for the ‘Bragging Rights’ of a city as the pair will come head-to-head at last.
Gavin (23-2, 14 KOs) is a former IBF world and European title challenger, while Eggington (18-3, 10 KOs) is the ex-custodian of the WBC International and Commonwealth belts.
As if the main event wasn’t mouthwatering enough, the undercard is stacked with local talent and a plethora of title fights.
Anthony Ogogo, the undefeated middleweight (11-0, 7 KOs) who won Olympic bronze at London 2012, will square off against Midlands Area super-welterweight champion Craig Cunningham (16-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant WBC International middleweight belt, subject to British Boxing Board of Control approval.
Meanwhile, Ohara Davies has agreed to relinquish the English lightweight title and the vacant belt will be contested between Marcus Ffrench (13-2, 3 KOs) and Robbie Barrett (12-2-1, 1 KO).
Don Broadhurst (17-3-1, 4 KOs) and Louis Norman (11-2-1, 2 KOs) will vie for the vacant English super-flyweight title, while Gamal Yafai’s Commonwealth super-bantamweight title will be at stake when he takes on English champion Sean Davis.
Broadhurst versus Norman is a rematch of their May, 2014 clash in which the vacant English flyweight title was at stake and the pair boxed to a draw.
Elsewhere, Jordan Cooke will face Andy Keates for the vacant Midlands Area super-lightweight title and there will also be action for Brian Rose, who fights for the first time since his April defeat at the hands of Matthew Macklin, while Cori Gibbs, Ryan Kelly and Joe Sherriff.
More names are set to be added to the card, which also includes talented 25-year-old super-middleweight Lennox Clarke and Leicestershire’s undefeated lightweight Sam Bowen.
