Tyson Fury refused to eat –– or even drink –– in the wake of his finest win to date.
The newly crowned heavyweight champion of the world revealed that he didn’t take a sip of water after his 12-round points victory over Wladimir Klitschko last Saturday.
Fury, 27, claimed the IBO, WBA Super, WBO Super and IBF titles after being awarded an unanimous decision at the ESPRIT Arena in Düsseldorf, but said that he left the venue dehydrated through fear of his post-fight drugs test being sabotaged.
“These people are cheats,” he said during a homecoming news conference in Bolton while admitting to being scared of being cheated out of one of British boxing’s most historic achievements.
“I had it from good sources not to touch anything in the changing room because they might try to drug me.
“People were trying to pass me all sorts of things but unless it came from my own baggage, I wasn’t having it, there was no chance of me getting drugged.
“You can never be too careful.”
Fury returned home from Germany on Sunday evening but has yet to make any decisions on his future.
