With an opponent secured for local lightweight contender Anthony Peterson and rebuilding super middleweight contender J'Leon Love, the full non-televised is now complete for the April 1 Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Spike TV show live from the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C.
Peterson will face Samuel "Unbelievable" Neequaye in a bout that could make its way to the telecast, pending airtime availability.
In other bouts previously announced, Adrien Broner defends his super lightweight title versus Ashley Theophane in the main event, while Robert Easter Jr. puts his unbeaten record on the line as he faces his toughest test to date in former super featherweight titlist Algenis Mendez. Opening the telecast is unbeaten super featherweight prospect Gervonta Davis, who faces veteran Guillermo Avila.
The addition of Peterson-Neequaye - along with the rest of the full non-televised undercard - was formally announced by the PBC press office on Wednesday.
Broner and Easter Jr. have relocated their training camp from Cincinnati to D.C., training with Peterson at Headbangers Gym. The practice has become commonplace for the team, as Broner and Easter Jr. are co-trained by Mike Stafford and Barry Hunter, the latter whom runs Headbangers and has served as a father figure to Anthony and older brother Lamont Peterson since their childhood days.
Peterson (36-1, 24KOs) fights for the first time since a 1st round knockout win last October in Northern Virginia. He has won his last six starts following the lone loss of his career, a 7th round disqualification defeat at the hands of Brandon Rios in their Sept. '10 battle of then-unbeaten lightweights.
His career has since been plagued by inactivity, although with the inception of the PBC series comes his third fight since last July.
Neequaye (22-1-1, 15KOs) represented his native Ghana in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but now lives and trains out of the greater D.C. area. His lone loss came in the 2014 ESPN2 Boxcino Lightweight Tournament, suffering a 2nd round knockout at the hands of Fernando Carcamo. The 32-year old boxer has since fought just once, a 10-round decision victory last March in Mexico.
Also announced by PBC brass to appear on the card in non-televised action:
Super middleweight contender J'Leon Love (21-1, 11KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout versus Michael Gbenga;
Maryland's Demond Nicholson (16-1, 16KOs) faces Ghana's Joshua Okine in a scheduled eight-round middleweight bout;
Local 20-year old welterweight Kareem Martin (7-0-1, 3KOs) squares off versus Somner Martin (no relation) in a six-round affair;
Patrick Harris (8-0, 5KOs) - a 21-year old lightweight from the greater D.C. area - is due to face Samuel Amoako (21-9, 15KOs), who just lost a six-round decision to D.C.'s own Mike Reed and will now enter his sixth fight since last November;
Shyngyskhan Tazhibay (2-0, 2KOs) - a 24-year old prospect from Kazakhstan who now trains out of Headbangers Gym - faces Riarus Dudley (2-0-1, 2KOs) in a four-round matchup of unbeaten welterweights
