Even if IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch is successful on Saturday night at Wembley, he doubts domestic rival George Groves will ever capture a world title in the future.
Froch has serious doubts about Groves' ability to withstand a tough twelve round contest. Last November, Groves controlled most of the first six rounds, but he tired badly in the second half of the contest and saw himself get stopped, controversially, in the ninth round. Groves also tired in the second of his victory against James DeGale.
“I’m not sure George will ever be a world champion. I don’t think he’s a twelve round fighter. He’s not genetically cut out for this at the top level – not tough enough. As for me, I’m not ready to retire. I’m enjoying the sport. I’ve loved being away from home, but don’t tell my wife! I had my feet up in the bath the other day and thought ‘Why don’t I always do this?’ This fight will secure my legacy,” Froch told Mirror Online.
