Polish contender Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 15 KOs) feels confident about his chances to overcome the dangerous abilities of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (23-1, 20 KOs) on May 24th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Fonfara has stopped his last ten opponents. Fonfara has already begun to training for the biggest opportunity of his career, which is going to take place before a very hostile crowd.
"This is a great opportunity for me. I am very motivated, I'm training hard. Right now I'm focusing mainly on technique. I also want to develop a base before the main motor of my preparation, which will last ten weeks. First I will train in Chicago, and then three or four weeks before the fight will go to a mountain resort in Big Bear to get my final sparring and then I'll go straight to Montreal," Fonfara said.
"[Stevenson] definitely deserves his top position. In his recent fights he was in excellent form, winning before the distance. You can see that he's done well since changing his division from super middleweight to light heavyweight. On the other hand, I've not only watched his recent fights, but also some that were earlier, and I know that he can be hit. I have in mind an initial plan for the fight. I know his strengths and weaknesses. I know what actions can be effective against him, and I'm slowly starting to work on them. Of course I will not say what specific actions I will approach."
