24-year-old welterweight prospect Fabian Maidana, the younger brother of former world champion Marcos Maidana, continued his winning ways at Club Social y Deportivo El Porvenir in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Maidana (12-0, 9 KOs) did not disappoint everyone who came to see him. In a just a round and a half, he dispatched of Elias Vallejos (20-7-1, 4 KOs), who took a lot of punishment up until that point.
Vallejos down once and received a standing count in the first round. He went down again in the second round, before seconds later his corner threw the towel.
The was Maidana's second fight in a row back home.
His career began in June of 2014, in the United States at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Maidana's first eight bouts took place in the United States. Three of his last four have taken place in Argentina.
Maidana says his next contest will take place in the United States.
He is also planning to drop down in weight to 140-pounds, to pursue some lucrative opportunities at the junior welterweight limit. Maidana has weighed anywhere from 142.5 to 154.4 over the years. He was 146 for t he bout with Vallejos.
"For the moment, this was my last fight in Argentina. I will continue training in California and I will surely go down to 140 pounds. I feel powerful and confident," Maidana said.
Like his older brother, who retired last year, Maidana's career is handled by advisers Sebastian Contoursi and Al Haymon.
