José "Olivaritos" Morales, father and trainer of Erik "El Terrible" Morales, said he is not concerned with Marcos "Chino" Maidana's decision to switch his trainer from Miguel Diaz to Rudy Perez. Morales-Maidana happens on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Perez previously trained Morales' Mexican rival, Marco Antonio Barrera, for their legendary trilogy. Morales' father thinks Perez has nothing to offer Maidana, but lessons of dirty tricks.
"According to Maidana, he went with Rudy Perez because of his vast knowledge of Érik's fighting style. But I can only say that Rudy will teach him headbutts, knees, elbows, as he did when he trained Barrera for the fights with my son. He also will teach him to fight in the last ten seconds to impress the judges," Morales' father said. "Hopefully there will be a good referee of quality. Morales is a clean fighter and does not use illegal tactics."
