Edgar Valerio has signed a managerial contract with Joel De La Hoya, the upstart manager told Boxingscene.com over the weekend.
Valerio (4-0, 2 KOs) has not fought since August of last year and is based in the Los Angeles area.
De La Hoya believes Valerio has the tools to become a force in the bantamweight of junior featherweight divisions.
“Valerio is the ideal fighter,” De La Hoya told Boxingscene.com. “He breathes, eats, and sleeps boxing. Edgar has an incredible work ethic, plus the kid can bang. Unfortunately, he’s been inactive, but that will change.”
No word on when Valerio will return to the ring, but it could occur during the first two months of 2016.
De La Hoya currently manages featherweight Julian Ramirez and his younger cousin, Diego De La Hoya. Like Valerio, both fighters are unbeaten.
