Undefeated heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov (33-0, 26KOs) has signed a promotional contract with the biggest powerhouse in Europe, Sauerland Event. The General Manager of Sauerland, Chris Meyer, has advised BoxingScene.com that Boytsov will debut for the company in August or September.
Earlier this month Boytsov, 27-years-old, broke away from longtime promoter Universum, after a lengthy contractual dispute. He was being pursued by numerous promoter in Germany and abroad.
"I am happy to be a part of Team Sauerland where I will train under the guidance of coach Karsten Roewer," confirmed Boytsov. "Therefore, I will move from Hamburg to Berlin to be close to the training facilities."
Boytsov was a top amateur before turning pro, winning the 2001 Cadet World Championship at Light Middleweight, 2002 Cadet World Championship at Heavyweight and in 2004 the Junior World Championship at super heavyweight. He finished his amateur run with a record of 115-15.
Over the years, Boytsov's activity level took a hit due to several injuries. In 2010, the boxer underwent two surgeries to correct a right hand injury, and then in 2012 he had surgery to repair an injured elbow. The boxer has already fought twice in 2013 and the injuries appear to be behind him.
The contract with Sauerland runs until 2015. Boytsov is currently ranked the number one contender by the WBO.
"We are excited that we were able to sign Dennis after Universum confirmed that their contracts with him had ended. He had received quite a number of offers from the market but at the end he selected us as his future promoter. He has an unblemished record, all wins in more than 30 professional fights. He might already have his first bout for Sauerland in August or September," Meyer told BoxingScene.com.
