Orlando Del Valle (15-0) scored his biggest win to date when he defeated Jose Angel Beranza (34-22-2) via unanimous decision this past Saturday in New York. Beranza is known for ruining many prospect's perfect records. The Mexican fighter holds wins over Christopher Martin, Juan Carlos Velasquez, and Jesus Rojas who were all undefeated when they faced him.
In an article we ran on BoxingScene.com prior to the fight, Del Valle said that he wanted to make a statement by knocking Beranza out. Although he wasn't able to get the knockout, Del Valle was able to get a comfortable unanimous decision victory.
After the fight Del Valle praised his opponent and chalked up the fight as a learning experience.
"My performance wasn't the best, We know I'm capable of doing much better but Beranza is very very tough and wild," explained Del Valle "This is a learning experience and we just are going to go back to gym and keep working hard because there's a lot work to do," he continued.
Del Valle wanted to thank his fans for coming out and showing support. The fight took place at the Roseland Ballroom which was standing room only. He also said that he hopes to be back in the ring soon.
"As for what's next, it is up to my promoter. Hopefully I will be back sometime in March or April. It was a tough but great night because everyone came out and I felt the great support."
