Junior middleweight contender Deandre "The Bull" Latimore (22-3) informed BoxingScene.com that he has signed a promotional contract with Mayweather Promotions. Latimore served as one of Floyd Mayweather's sparring partners for his most recent fight, a knockout victory over Victor Ortiz.
Latimore is thrilled to be part of the Money team. Latimore also revealed that he is now being trained by Floyd's uncle, Jeff Mayweather.
"I am excited to be signed to Mayweather Promotions. It is an honor to be promoted by the best fighter out there," stated Latimore. "I am also now going to be trained by Jeff Mayweather. He is a great trainer and all the fans will be able to see what I can do this year," he continued.
The St. Louis native lost a close split decision to Cory Spinks in April of 2009 in a fight for the then vacant IBF junior middleweight title. Latimore is hoping to get another shot at a title soon.
"2012 is going to be a big year for The Bull. I will win a title this year," Latimore predicted.
The 154 pound division is one of the most talented divisions in the sport. When you combine Golden Boy Promotion's deep stable of fighters at 154 pounds and their close working relationship with Mayweather Promotions, a title shot for Latimore could happen in the near future.
