Tijuana's David de la Mora's is impressing the local press in Tokyo, Japan, as he prepares for his upcoming fight against the bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Koki Kameda. "Morita" De la Mora (23-0-0, 16 KOs) will face Kameda (25-1-0, 16 KOs) next Wednesday at the Nihon Budokan in Tokyo. In fact, the betting odds began to shift after reporters watched "Morita" training at a local gym in Tokyo.
De la Mora was training for long periods with such intensity, and at such a rapid pace, that local reporters began to question as to whether of not Kameda could keep up with him.
"I came to Japan to win the world title. I made a long journey and went through a lot of preparation in order to be crowned as the new champ and that's what I plan to do. I am confident in my talent, and in my corner, to beat Kameda," said the Tijuana fighter.
"I'm proud to be Mexican, but it is a blessing from God to be from Tijuana. I have little experience against southpaws, but we had a wonderful preparation for this fight; I boxed several lefties in the gym and I know that I will win."
