Unbeaten featherweight prospect Daniel "Twitch" Franco improved his record to 14-0-3 with a 5th round knockout of Marcello Gallardo (7-4-2) on the Andre Ward-Alexander Brand undercard this past Saturday night in Oakland, Calif.
The 24-year-old dropped Gallardo seconds into the fights and finished him off in the 5th. He feels that he did a good job but that he still has a lot to improve.
"My performance was good. I felt I listened to my corner extremely well. Everything that they were seeing they were telling me to do and I was executing. I did get caught with a couple punches so I want to go back to the drawing board and work on improving," Franco told BoxingScene.com.
The Roc Nation Sports promoted fighter said that he won't take a long break and that he will be ready to return to the ring whenever his name is called.
"I just got to go back to the gym and keep getting better and work on perfecting my craft. As perfect as tonight looked there are still a lot of holes. I will be back in the gym very soon getting ready to go again," Franco stated.
As for when he will be stepping up to bigger fights, Franco said that whenever his manager and the brass at Roc Nation Sports want him to step up, he will be ready for the bigger fights.
"It is up to my manager and Eric (Bottjer) and Dino (Duva) at Roc Nation. Whenever they want me to step up to bigger fights I will be ready to go. I am always training," said Franco.
