Trainer Pedro Diaz is confident in heavyweight Odlanier Solis' ability to become a force in the heavyweight division. Diaz, who gained a lot of recognition for his recent work with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, doesn't like the negative comments being pushed against Solis (17-1, 12KOs) for the March loss to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. The Cuban heavyweight suffered a bad knee injury that required multiple operations.
Solis' ring return has been postponed several times. He is expected to fight again in 2012. Diaz is working to make Solis the next champion is his stable.
"A lot of people have said negative things about Odlanier Solis over what happened in the fight against Vitali Klitschko and I do not like that. Next year Solis will rise back up and I'll be by his side to watch him become a world champion. If anyone has doubts about this, you should know those doubts will be my greatest encouragement," Diaz said.
