LAS VEGAS --- Luis Collazo landed a shot against Amir Khan on the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana undercard on Saturday night at the MGM Grand on Showtime PPV after knocking out talented young star Victor Ortiz in the second round in January.
Collazo, 33, a former WBA welterweight and 14-year veteran with 40 pro fights, has seen every kind of style throughout his career.
"You know, it's not bad," Collazo said of facing another talented young fighter. "I haven't really been in no wars. I been fighting a lot of young fighters, but they been in a lot of wars and that catches up to you as a young fighter. Keep coming and getting into wars. I'm just blessed for this opportunity. I'm ready to go and May 3rd is going to be my moment.
Collazo plans to tap into his edge in experience against Khan.
"Big time," Collazo said, "because they have something to prove. the younger fighters have to prove something to the people. I already did that. Now, it's about going out there, having fun and enjoying every moment."
Khan, 27, is making his debut at 147 pounds and there have been some questions about the durability of his chin.
"You know, styles make fights and he's moving up to the welterweight division," Collazo said. "I don't know (about his chin). Time will tell. My main focus is not just that chin. I do what I do best and give the fight fans what they want."
