British heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora believes there is a good possibility that he'll face Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua in the near future.
Joshua (15-0, 15KOs) takes a big step up on April 9th, when he challenges IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin at the O2 Arena in London, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The unbeaten Brit is the big betting favorite to win the bout and Chisora has backed him to get the job done by knockout.
A few weeks ago there were serious negotiations to make a fight between Chisora and Joshua, but their respective promoters were unable to reach a deal on the money.
Chisora himself took a similar risk like Joshua, when in 2012 he had only 17 fights under his belt when he stepped in the ring with then WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. Although Chisora lost a twelve round decision, he put in a very competitive effort in the fight.
"[A fight with Joshua is] always going to be there," Chisora told Sky Sports. "When he wins, he's going to ask to fight me or David Haye. It's always going to be there. It's a fight which none of us can hide away from. But it has to be on great terms for both parties."
"Every fight in the heavyweight game is a 50-50 fight. Dillian Whyte was a 50-50 fight. It's all about who wants it more in that split second - that is it. Some guys get in the ring, but really and truly they don't want to be in the ring.
"I know what his [Martin] game-plan is - he's going to try and box AJ the first two to four rounds and try and take it to the deep end, which might be harder for AJ. But AJ has got the first two rounds and he'll knock him out if he wants to. Yes, he's going to win it by knockout I think."
