Unbeaten WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez "Canelo" has officially opened his training camp in the Jalisco capital. Canelo faces former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"He's a fighter that I've never stopped watching, because I like his style in the ring. He's a fighter who attacks, who knows how to move, has a lot of experience, and now I'm going to face him, which is like a dream for me," said Alvarez. "Mosley had big fights, and he was only knocked down against Vernon Forrest. The other [fighters] who defeated him [did not give him a beating]. He fought with champions who have Mexican blood like Oscar de la Hoya, Fernando Vargas and Antonio Margarito, which is important for me."
Alvarez would like to become the first boxer to stop Mosley, but he won't take risky chances by chasing a knockout victory. He plans to take the opportunity when he sees the proper opening.
"I am not going in there with the mindset of knocking him out, because sometimes when you go in there with that mindset - you do not get the kind of the fight that you want. What I have to do, is prepare myself very well and if the knockout presents itself, then that would be [the] best [way to end it]. He's experienced, strong, fast and that makes him dangerous. It will be a difficult fight but we will prevail," Canelo said.
