According to promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, we are only a few days away from the official notification to announce James DeGale's defense of the IBF super middleweight championship against former beltholder Lucian Bute.
Hearn, who promotes DeGale, informed TVA Sports that a fight with Bute is pretty much a go and they are waiting for the official word to get released. The date appears likely for November 28th at the Videotron Centre in Quebec.
Howard Grant, who trains the Canadian star, confirmed to TVA Sports that Bute has already traveled to Florida to begin his physical preparation.
Bute (32-2, 25 KOs) is coming off a knockout victory in Montreal over Italian contender Andrea Di Luisa in August.
DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs), who only suffered one career defeat against compatriot George Groves on a split decision in May 2011, captured the title earlier this year with a decision over Andre Dirrell.
Bute held the IBF title until he was knocked out by Carl Froch in May 2012. Froch vacated the title earlier this year and retired from the sport.
