Kell Brook insists he is experienced enough to hand Floyd Mayweather his first professional defeat.
The Fight of the Century saw Mayweather extend his record to 48-0 by outclassing Manny Pacquiao over 12 rounds in Las Vegas last weekend.
The American superstar has one fight remaining on his Showtime contract and insists he will retire afterwards – so Brook has to beat Amir Khan to the opportunity of facing Mayweather.
“I’d go in there very confident, unbeaten, I’m a world champion and I’m ready to take that zero away from him,” Brook told Ringside.
“I’m ready. This is what I’ve done since I was kid and I’ve seen every style in the gym. Boxing is boxing, if you’re born for it then whatever the occasion is you’ll perform.
“Khan’s got fast hands and long arms so he possibly could trouble Mayweather. But he’s not bringing anything to the table. Mayweather’s got the titles and holds all the belts, except for me who holds the other belt.
“I’m a fully-fledged welterweight who’s got long arms and I’m very accurate with the jab.”
Brook’s first defence of the IBF welterweight title that he won last summer against Shawn Porter comes on May 30, live on Sky Sports, against Frankie Gavin.
The Sheffield champion insists he will be going into the O2 Arena clash aiming to make a statement.
“Gavin is a very tricky fighter,” he said. “He was a brilliant amateur tipped to win gold at the Olympics. But he hasn’t performed as a professional, although when he’s put up against it, he does perform.
“I’m fit and healthy and ready for the 30th. It’s about being momentum, keeping me in the ring and you’ll see my very best.
“I’m going to knock him out! We don’t get paid overtime. I’m going in there to perform. We’re on the world stage and I’m the world champion looking to seek and destroy.”
