Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs (59-6-1, 52 KOs) is very confident of knocking out David Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) when the two fighters collide later this year in the UK.
After chasing Haye down for several months, he finally secured the fight after reaching an agreement for a two fight deal.
Briggs agreed to be a part of Haye’s undercard this coming Saturday night at the O2 Arena. The opponent has yet to be revealed after Alexander Dimitrenko denied ever reaching an agreement on the fight. Haye will face unbeaten Arnold Gjergjaj (29-0, 21 KOs) in the main event.
If Haye and Briggs come out successful this weekend, they will face each other at a later date in the fall. January in a sick mismatch at the O2.
“David Haye is a chump. I'll tell everybody right now. He's scared of me. He’s got to fight me. I didn’t come out here for nothing. I came here to work. Let's go champ. I’m 100 percent ready for him. He’s going to be easy work, trust me. David Haye is a hyped up fighter. He’s getting knocked out cold. He'll be lucky if he goes one round with me. I’m in the best shape of my life," Briggs told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor.
Briggs confronted Haye, face to face, a few weeks ago. Haye claims that he wasn't worried when the confrontation took place and was more than ready to trade punches on the street. Briggs denies his version of the story. He claims Haye was terrified to the point where his bottom lip was trembling.
"How can he say that? Everybody saw his face when I ran up on him at the O2, and I went up to him. Everybody seen him trembling. His lip was trembling. His lip was trembling. Let's go champ. I love England. Hayemaker? It's champ day. We changed the card. It's now champ day. They can't stop me, let's go champ," Haye said.
