Junior-welterweight prospect Amir Imam will return in a co-feature bout underneath the Jan. 17 Showtim card featuring heavyweight titleholder Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder in the main event and Leo Santa Cruz against an opponent still to be named as the key supporting bout.
That’s according to promoter Don King, who made the announcement during a Dec. 18 media conference call.
“He’s a super sensational young fighter that’s going to be a champion, so we’re looking forward to seeing him,” he said.
No opponent for Imam has been named yet, King said.
Imam, 24, is 14-0 with 12 KOs and is coming off a decision win over Yordenis Ugas this past May in what was his second and final fight of 2014.
