Former two division world champion Devon Alexander (26-2, 14KOs) plans to put on a showcase performance against British star Amir Khan 29-3, 19KOs) on December 13th from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The winner of Khan-Alexander is likely to become a frontrunner to face WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) in May.
Alexander is not coming in with a fixation on Khan's chin. He intends to box, use his skills and work his way to a dominating victory. But if he sees the opportunity to get a knockout, he will grasp the opportunity with both hands.
"He is definitely in trouble. A lot of people talk about his chin, but I focus on his skill and what he brings to the table. I don't want to go in there [mentally set] to knock his head off. I want to use skill, speed, follow the game plan and if the knockout comes - I'm definitely going to be there to take it. But it's going to an exciting fight," Alexander told 78SportsTV.
"You can expect a blowout though, because he hasn't fought anybody the caliber of my skill set. The last guy he fought [who could box], he fought him in his hometown [Paul McCloskey] and he had a little bit of trouble with him. It was stopped prematurely or something on a head butt. I was looking at that and that guy was giving him problems from a southpaw stance. He wasn't even fast or quick. It's going to be a runaway fight for me."
