Junior welterweight Adrian Granados is beginning to see doors opening up for him.
Granados continued his winning ways this past Saturday night, defeating Ariel Vasquez in a stay-busy fight at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Granados, 78-74, 78-74, and 79-73.
Granados (18-4-2, 12 KOs) had not fought since November 28, when he pulled off a major upset on paper in knocking out Amir Imam in the eighth round. Imam entered the Granados fight unbeaten and was the WBC mandatory challenger at 140 pounds.
Granados has won his last five bouts in a row.
There is a likelihood Granados could return to the ring in the next couple of months. Granados would like to face anyone at 140 pounds.
"We knew Ariel Vasquez was a durable and game fighter, but we wanted Adrian to get some rounds in," manager Andrew Zak texted BoxingScene.com on Wednesday. "Adrian had him hurt a few times, but to Vasquez's credit, he persevered."
With the Vasquez fight over with, Zak is mulling offers, but hopes Granados can face a legitimate challenge.
"We are calling out John Molina, Jr. (who defeated Ruslan Provodnikov last month). We believe it is something the fight fans would love to see. We would even fight the winner of the (Terence) Crawford-(Viktor) Postol fight."
Asked if a rematch with Imam is in the cards, Zak was open to the fight.
"As (for) a rematch with Amir Imam, (if) the money was right. The Imam fight would have to come with a rematch clause for us. Maybe a possible trilogy."
Granados resides in the Chicago area and all four of his losses are either by majority or split decision. Three of those losses are to Frankie Gomez, Felix Diaz, and Brad Solomon.
