German superstar Arthur Abraham has promised to put Mexico's Gilberto Ramirez "in his place" when they face each other next month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Ramirez is the mandatory challenger to Abraham's WBO super middleweight championship.
Their title fight is the co-featured attraction to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley trilogy. Both fights will be featured on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Abraham has a significant edge in experience and he's a big puncher. He plans to do a real job the rising contender.
Ramirez was on a roll with good knockout wins, but as he stepped up in competition those knockouts stopped and his victories have been less impressive. His last three fights went the full ten round distance.
"Ramirez will seriously regret having gone into the ring to face me, because I'm going to put him in his place," said Abraham, who is training in Berlin. "I'm better prepared than I've ever been in the past."
Abraham, a former WBO world champion at 160-pounds, is on an eight fight win streak over several durable opponents like Martin Murray, Paul Smith, Robert Steiglitz, and Giovanni De Carolis.
Ramirez is younger and has the advantage in height and reach. Abraham is not a tall super middleweight at only 5'9, while Ramirez stands at nearly 6'3.
The champion's trainer is confident that his boxer's height will compensate for the disadvantage in height.
"Arthur is very disciplined and listens to everything that is said. You can compensate for the height difference with his experience," said coach Ulli Wegner.
Abraham has a record of 44 wins, 29 by knockout and four defeats, while Ramirez won all 33 of his fights, with 24 of them by KO.
