Arthur Abraham Wants One More Fight, Then Stieglitz Shot

By Ruslan Chikov, Alexander Pavlov

Super middlerweight contender Arthur Abraham (33-3, 27KOs) has his eyes fixated on the WBO title held by Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23KOs). Stieglitz is still booked to face former champion Mikkel Kessler in April, but rumors continue to swirl that Abraham may beat the Danish star in the championship race.

"I hope the fight with Stieglitz will take place. Prior to this, however, I will need to have one more fight. If all everything well, I hope that our promoters will enter into negotiations. This fight would be interesting for the boxing fans, and for me personally," Abraham said.

Chris Meyer, general manager of Sauerland Event, who promote Abraham, is also interested in matching King Arthur against Stieglitz. However, he states that Kessler is still on course to face Stieglitz in April.

"To carry out a fight between Abraham and Stieglitz, we would need a huge arena. However, in mid-April Robert will make a title defense against Mikkel Kessler, and only after that can we say something concrete about a fight between Abraham and Stieglitz," Meyer said.

Good idea for AA to have at least one more fight before stepping up. He looked average against Farias. Stieglitz would be a good fight to aim for as would Balszay or Magee if Stieglitz loses to Kessler.

Good match either way it pans out. Stieglitz Kessler will tell it all!

Kesslers got a rematch with Ward lined up. If that falls through then he will go for Steiglitz. Arthur will hang about see what happens and if he gets the opportunity he'll go for one of the weaker champions. As…

If Kessler fights Stieglitz, he will most likely win. So instead of Stieglitz AA might end up fighting Kessler?

It's still a good domestic fight, even if Stieglitz looses his belt in April. AA might not have the combination of skills, speed and size to be part of top 5 in SMW, but i think he's still top 10.…
