Sherman Oaks, CA - "I've been working on my usual aggressive power punching style and focusing on waist and head movement. It has been a year since I have last fought and I am feeling anxious to get back into the ring and shine on HBO," said the WBC's #1 world ranked heavyweight, Chris Arreola. "I'm ready to fight for and claim the top spot in the world in the heavyweight division and that includes the current world champions. I'm ready."

The final WBC heavyweight eliminator between Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne (22-1-1, 20KOs) is once again hunting for a new date. Citing bronchitis, Arreola’s trainer pulled his boxer from the fight with Stiverne. The fight was scheduled to make place on March 9th as part of an HBO televised split-site edition of World Championship Boxing. The fight has been shuffled around several times. Last September, Stiverne's promoter Don King secured the promotional rights after winning the WBC's purse bid with a whopping submission of $1.1 million.

By Robert Morales - Everyone always wants to know what it's like for a fighter to be involved in a Fight of the Year type of bout. But what about the trainers? For example, we recall the morning of May 8, 2005. Driving back to Los Angeles from Las Vegas, where the night before Diego Corrales had gotten up from two brutal 10th-round knockdowns to stop Jose Luis Castillo in the 10th of what many experts called one of the greatest comebacks in history, we put in a call to Corrales' trainer, Joe Goossen. Basically, Goossen said he was still having a hard time believing his fighter did what he did in that lightweight title unification fight, that he was half-expecting to wake up and find it was all a dream. The first fight between Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios and Mike Alvarado last Oct. 13 at Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. was not quite as incredible as that Corrales-Castillo fight. But it was a tremendous seven rounds that contained vicious non-stop punching between two ultimate ring warriors. Rios won via 7th-round TKO, but it was one of those situations where even the loser's stock rose because of his sheer courage. Garcia was in Rios' corner, and will be again when the rematch takes place March 30 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas (on HBO).

Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola will return to the big stage and HBO when he takes on Bermane Stiverne in a WBC Heavyweight final eliminator bout. Arreola has been on a long comeback trail to the top as he’s quietly paid his dues and has once again positioned himself for his goal of attaining a Heavyweight world title.

By Robert Morales - Flash back about eight months. "Sugar" Shane Mosley is preparing to challenge Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for his super welterweight title on May 5 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. A reporter wanted Mosley to explain how the fight would be different from his previous three, where he was soundly beaten by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao and managed only a draw against light-hitting Sergio Mora. Here are some of the responses from Mosley: "I see myself not as an old warrior, but a young killer," he said at the time. "I don't buy into the 40-year-old (stuff). I'm coming to work like a killer. I'm coming to the fight like I fought with (Antonio) Margarito, like the training camp I had with Margarito, and even better." There's more. "The haters are what keep me motivated," he said. "Some media members might be overlooking me because of my age. I'm considered an underdog. I like being the underdog and proving that I'm not. I'm not going to rule the fight, I'm going to dominate."
