Arreola-Stiverne Rematch Heads To Mexico in June

By Miguel Rivera

Promoter Don King, along with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, and Cancun Boxing CEO Pepe Gomez, will be hold a meeting next Tuesday with the mayor of Centro, Tabasco, Humberto Betruy Saints, to finalize an event to be held in Villahermosa in June. According to the promoters, the main event of the evening will feature a showdown between heavyweights Bermane "B. Ware" Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO's)  and Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola (36-3, 31 KO's), who will collide in a rematch for the vacant World Boxing Council heavyweight crown that was vacated by Vitali Klitschko.

King and Gomez previously worked together on the last heavyweight title fight which took place in Mexico, in March of 2008 at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, where Samuel Peter captured the WBC title from Oleg Maskaev.

Gomez indicates that HBO and Televisa will carry the contest.
Wtf... why is arreola getting home field advantage when he lost the first fight? I hope the Haitian beast is getting a decent payday for this
You have to realize that it can come down to Siverne getting more money, site…
Stiverne will not be able to hold this title long because hes almost 36 already. He will be paperchamp for a short time but im sure he will be proud about it. [B]I wonder if Stiverne vs. Klitschko will happen…
And I agree with what people say that Don King, Mexico, etc. sounds very murky here. :lol1: Also sucks that the fight is only in June. These fights just take too long to come into fruition, too many damn politics…
I don't see why a rematch is needed when Stiverne won convincingly and without controversy.

No reason for this fight to happen.....just another beating for Arreola.
Stiverne and Arreola are the two top ranked with the WBC.
