Argenis Mendez: I'll Beat Honorio and Then Salgado

By Reynaldo Sanchez

Junior lightweight Argenis Mendez is confident that he will defeat Martin Honorio on July 21 at the Hard Rock in Hollywood. Fla. The Dominican Mendez, and his trainer German Caicedo, admit that Honorio is a dangerous opponent. Nevertheless, they also know his deficiencies and they will take advantage of that. After that, Mendez wants a remacth with the IBF champion.

“Now I’m a better fighter. I trust in my skills and I know that I’m going to defeat Martin and then I will defeat [Juan Carlos] Salgado for the IBF world title,” Mendez said.

“Everybody knows that it’s hard to win in Mexico. They know that I defeated Juan Carlos Salgado in our fight. He was pleased with a majority decision that he didn’t deserve. I knocked him down two times and in Mexico I had to knock him out to win."
