Archie Solis Returns, Knocks Jesus Iribe Out in Seven
By Rafael Soto
Centro de Usos Multiples, Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico - Former IBF junior flyweight champion Archie Solis (35-2-3, 22KOs) finally returned to the ring and stopped Jesus Iribe (16-8-5, 10KOs) in the seventh round. Solis has been inactive since last August. He suffered a badly broken jaw during an alleged attack by 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, which allegedly took place on a jogging road in Guadalajara.
The fight wasn't easy. After a slow first round, Archie dropped Iribe in the second round. During the sixth round, Solis hurt Iribe and came close to putting him away. Archie continued the assault in the seventh, landing a big hook to the liver and dropped Iribe for the full count.
